Tracey “The Tax Man” Gaines

The firm of Gaines and Welsh has been in business in the same location since 1977. Mr. Gaines has been an IRS “Enrolled Agent” (EA) since 1986. Tracey is a second generation San Diego native. Married to the lovely Kristin Gaines, they have 5 children, one of whom is a San Diego Police Officer and his daughter Kelley who has worked for the company since January 2003. They also have 4 grandchildren. Tracey is a Viet Nam Era vet of the US Army – 82nd Airborne 1971-1974. He has held many professional licenses such as: securities license, real estate, life, health and disability insurance and a casualty insurance license. Tracey has been seen and heard on both radio and television. He also has many years of experience on the air at KCBQ, KFMB and as the Financial Expert on Channel 6.

Cheli Mondragon

Cheli has been a Certified Licensed Tax Preparer since 1983. She prepares taxes for individuals, sole proprietors, and corporations. Because of her own experience being a business owner for approximately 17 years, she particularly specializes on small businesses. Cheli and Tracey Gaines have known each other since 1979, on October of 2002 he asked her to join his company and later invited her to be part owner of his company. She came aboard as the office manager heading the accounting and payroll division offering QuickBooks clean up and support. Her main objective at Gaines & Welsh is to help our clientele receive the best service they deserve and help them with their individual needs.
